Mikao Usui

Mikao Usui, the founder of the Usui Reiki system, was a Buddhist monk who studied Kiko, medical science, psychology, and various healing modalities. During a ten-year quest, he studied the sacred literature of Japan, China, India, and Tibet. At the end of his journey, he created his system of Reiki and initiated sixteen masters, one of whom was Dr. Chujiro Hayashi.

Just for today...
I will not be angry.
I will not worry.
I will be grateful.
I will do my work honestly.
I will be kind to every living thing.

dr. chujiro hayashi

Chujiro Hayashi, one of the top Reiki master/ teachers, took the helm after Usui passed. Dr. Hayashi was a physician and blended his medical experience with Reiki to develop a more concrete method of training practitioners. His contributions included developing rigorous training manuals and incorporating specific hand placements based on the nine major organ systems.

hawayo takata

Hawayo Takata, born in Hawaii to Japanese parents, was a student of Dr. Hayashi and the last Grand Master he initiated. Takata cleared the way for Reiki to be embraced in the west by modernizing the practice and initiating twenty-two Reiki Masters into the lineage.
